After you plugin Vera and go to findvera.com you click the link 'Hosted
Services' and type in a user name and password. That's it. Really. Then from
any web browser you can go to findvera.com and be connected to your Vera
with that user name and password. It uses the same security on-line banks
use to protect your transactions, so nobody can get in and control your home
or look at your cameras without your password. If you give Vera your mobile
phone number, she'll send you a text message that contains a handy remote
control application for your phone.
Works with all Z-Wave devices
Vera includes a Z-Wave stick that you carry around the house with you when
you turn on Z-Wave devices like lamp modules, in-wall light switches, thermostats,
power strips, alarm sensors, garage door openers, and window coverings.
Professional installation
Some Z-Wave devices, like lamp modules, anybody can just plug in. But if you
want to replace your light switches or thermostat, we can connect you with
a local dealer/installer that will do everything for you. Many of our dealers
also sell complete high-end home control, security and home theater solutions.
Just tell us what your needs are and we'll set you up with a local dealer that
can take care of you. find a dealer
Real-time and historic energy usage
Vera constantly tracks how much energy you are using. Every time you turn
on a light, or lower the thermostat, Vera logs it and calculates how much energy
is being used. Vera then shows you simple, visual charts of your energy usage:
in which rooms the energy is being used, by which types of appliances, at which
times of day, and day of the week, and so on.
Full-featured home automation made simple
If you thought home automation was complicated then you've never seen Vera.
With Vera even a total novice can do everything you'd expect from a high-end
home automation system:
Scenes: Point and click to create scenes, like "Leave for Work" which
turns off all the lights and lowers the thermostat, or "Watch a movie" which
dims the lights, closes the blinds, and turns on the TV and cable box.
Events: Examples are: "when this motion detector is tripped, turn on
this light for 5 minutes", or "turn on the porch light at sunset",
or "notify me when this sensor is tripped".
Timers: Such as "Turn off the inside lights at 8am", "Lower
the thermostat on work-days at 10am".
Notifications: Vera can send you a text message, email, or call you on the
phone when certain things happen that you want to be notified of. For example,
if a sensor is tripped, or if the lights are still on after everybody left
the house.
Security cameras
Just plug-in a wireless camera and within about 60 seconds you'll see it appear
on the control panel on your mobile phone and web browser. Really, that's it.
Then you can see what's going on in your home live, and, if you wish, Vera
will keep an archive automatically at regular intervals or when sensors are
tripped. Vera's even smart enough to turn on the lights in front of a camera
when you're viewing it. Most importantly, Vera is the only consumer security
camera system using a secure, encrypted network. Nobody, not even the Mi Casa
Verde staff, can view your cameras or archive without your password. And we
openly publish our security protocols and measures for independent review and
analysis. more info
Simple Home Networking
Vera includes a built-in wi-fi access point, firewall, gateway and router.
But don't let all that tech talk scare you. Vera is not like all those complicated
networking products you've seen before. Vera is for the total novice. Just
plug Vera in and it's completely self-configuring. If you connect Vera to your
DSL or cable modem, she figures this out automatically and then shares your
internet connection and turns into a firewall to protect your computers. If
you already have a home network setup, Vera figures that out automatically
and doesn't interfere with your existing setup. Plus, Vera's built-in wireless/wi-fi
access point comes completely pre-configured. Just turn Vera on and you have
a secure wireless home network. more info
Audio/video control
Vera controls all popular tv's, cable boxes and other a/v gear, both with
infrared, like a normal remote control, and with RS232 on the higher end models.

Universal remote
Vera includes a beautiful and simple universal remote control for the iPhone
and iPod touch. You can leave one on the coffee table and use it in place of
your normal remote. *
Vera is an open platform for developers
We designed Vera to be simple enough for the total tech novice, but it's a
great choice for developers too. It's an open system, and we publish all the
API's; even the remote access. Vera is based on a messaging system, so it's
easy to add write new modules to add functionality. Soon there will also be
a Lua-based scripting language with a web based code generator to make it easier
for non-programmers. We're also developing an interactive GUI tool to customize
the UI's for the remotes.
** Note: To access Vera remotely using Mi Casa Verde's secure network requires
a subscription, which is free for the first 90 days. Without the subscription
you can still remotely access Vera as you would any other IP device. Vera
does not have an internal hard drive to store the archive of video footage
from the security cameras or the log of energy usage. As part of the subscription,
Mi Casa Verde provides a secure server and 1GB of capacity for your Vera
to store this.
Unlimited tech support and 1 year warranty (compliments of Mi Casa Verde)
